중심 (jungsim) — centre, core, the focal point everything organises around. Every dining room has a gravitational centre. The Jungsim is built to be that point.
The brief starts with numbers: how many people do you seat regularly? How many when guests come? Do you have a rectangular room or a square one? Do you want to see the grain of the wood or the movement of stone? The answers to these questions determine the table before any drawing begins.
The top is solid walnut, solid oak, or a slab of Calacatta or Statuario marble. Length from 140cm to 300cm. Overhang and edge profile specified in consultation. The base — four legs, a trestle, or a pedestal in solid wood or matte-finished steel — is drawn to fit the top proportions and reviewed before build.
Eight to twelve chairs are designed alongside the table if required. The Jungsim is made to live with the people around it — not to dominate them.
